Name or No Name.com? Name.com REVIEW

Is Name.com a scam? Domain registration, hosting, and my experience with Name.com. Name.com Review

First, let’s see what kind of company Name.com is.

Name.com is a U.S.-based company that provides domain registration and web hosting services.
Name.com services include domain registration, web hosting, SSL certificates, professional email, website builder, managed DNS, domain privacy protection, domain transfer, domain search, and WordPress hosting

And now,

My bitter experience with Name.com

I am a web designer, SEO specialist, and video ad producer. I have been using Name.com to register domains for my clients. I’ve been a customer of Name.com for over a decade, and until my last order, everything was good and professional. However, in my latest order, I transferred three domains to Name.com, one of which was the hefaz.at domain.

I paid the full transfer cost, and it was confirmed, but some time later, I received an email from nic.at informing me that the domain had been deleted. Naturally, since I had already transferred the domain to Name.com & paid for it, I assumed this was a system error from nic.at. However, I still contacted Name.com, and as you can see, they assured me that the domain was successfully transferred and renewed

Name or No Name.com? Name.com REVIEW – part 1

My client, who had about 40-50 other websites, naturally expected this site to attract customers from Google just like the others. However, they contacted me saying the hefaz site wasn’t loading.
I checked the hosting, and there was no problem there. After a thorough investigation, I discovered the depth of the disaster: despite paying Name.com, they failed to renew the domain due to clear negligence. As a result, the entire site has been down for over a year!

Naturally, my client was extremely angry and blamed me for this failure, even though I had paid the amount to Name.com

Finally, after a month of back-and-forth with every department at Name.com, they declared that it was not their responsibility!

Name or No Name.com? Name.com REVIEW – part 3

Why did Name.com make this mistake?
As a customer, and more importantly, a long-time customer, I expected much more responsibility from Name.com. Here’s why:

1. Such a fatal mistake by Name.com was very surprising and unexpected. This mistake caused my client to suffer losses for an entire year and damaged my reputation and credibility.
2. Accepting responsibility and compensating for the loss was the very least they could do, but they refused.
The only thing they did was refund the domain registration cost so that I could re-register the domain. However, I initially didn’t proceed because re-registering the domain could be seen as me accepting responsibility for the mistake. But today, I plan to register it while still pursuing compensation from Name.com

I now intend to launch a campaign to make this domain registration company aware of their mistake so that they can prevent similar errors in the future and act with more responsibility towards customer rights in domain registration services.

Name or No Name.com? Name.com REVIEW – Legal / Lawyer Advice

After completely unproductive discussions, I intend to sue this company. If you are a lawyer in the U.S., Canada, or any other country and can guarantee to secure my rights from this company while adhering to the law, please send me your terms.
A crucial point is that to ensure a real guarantee, only a commission from the compensation will be paid to you as your legal fee.
Please provide your legal fee and the terms for all services required until the final verdict as a percentage of the compensation.

Thanks for your attention

Name.com Review _Documents

Hello Dehghani,

The domain name was within your Name.com account at the time of your previous request. As there was no further communication or support requests in the meantime, we are limited in the troubleshooting we can do and have to rely on the information we can see in logs.

While there was a renewal paid in 2023, which would have renewed the domain name through to 2024, no renewal attempt was made in 2024.

To best reach a solution, we provided courtesy Account Credit for $19.00, which would cover the registration of the domain name once more as it is currently available:
https://www.name.com/domain/search/hefaz.at

At this time, we would strongly recommend using the courtesy credit provided to secure the domain name once more.

Regards,

Nate

Greetings to you, dear Nate, and to the legal team,

It has been over a year and a bit that the site hefaz.at has been inactive.

For about a month now, the support team at name.com has been unable to explain why, despite my payment of the transfer fee and having the confirmation, the responsible party has not been identified.

With great respect, this is my final effort to receive a clear response.

Otherwise, with apologies, I will detail the issue on the following sites to seek out the responsible party with the help of others. I will also send you the links:
Google Review
Trustpilot
Hostadvice
Facebook

Website Planet
and more…

Please view the attached clip and respond only to these three questions:

1. Did I pay the transfer fee for hefaz.at to name.com?
Please answer only with yes or no.

If yes:
2. After paying the fee, why did name.com instruct nic.at to remove the domain?

However, after receiving an email from nic.at, despite my payment, I contacted name.com and they confirmed that hefaz.at was correctly renewed until 2024.
Please see the attached clip.

3. Who is responsible for this oversight?

I am awaiting your final response.

With thanks and respect,
Dehghani

Hello,

I am a member of the management team here at Name.com and have reviewed this case and coordinated with Brianna on the matter. We completely understand, if you ever want to talk on the phone about this issue please let us know and we can coordinate a time that works best.

We sincerely apologize for the stress and frustration this situation has caused. It’s not our intention to make any of our customers feel this way. We want to clarify the facts based on our observations. Our team has discussed this matter to ensure we provide accurate information in the future and to prevent similar confusion. We are now clear on the distinction between a domain’s expiration and a transfer. In this case, the domain expired and was removed from the account due to non-renewal. While the screenshot you provided indicated that the domain had been renewed, auto-renewal was turned off shortly thereafter. As a result, when the expiration date arrived in July 2024, the domain was not renewed during the grace period.

While certain domains may offer a grace period for renewal after their expiration, each domain is unique and no specific timeframe can be guaranteed. To ensure you maintain ownership of your domain, it is essential to keep it active and prevent it from expiring. Once a domain expires, it can follow several different outcomes.

We send several renewal notices to the email address listed on both the domain and the Name.com account contacts as a courtesy reminder that the domain is due for renewal. You can always change these renewal notification settings based on your preference in frequency by following these steps:
Changing your Renewal Notification frequency and settings

We feel that there’s no blame to assign in this situation. To rectify the inconvenience caused, we have added Account Credit to your account, allowing you to purchase the domain again now that it is available for registration. The account credit can be found here and it will also show up on the Payment Details page when checking out.
https://www.name.com/domain/search/hefaz.at

If you would like to reach out to our Legal Team, they can be reached through this email: [email protected]

Please let us know if you have any additional questions and we will be happy to help!

Kind Regards,

Nate

Name.com Review – www.Nic.at

Here is my final email to nic.at:

Firstly, I am very grateful for your attention and the time you have spent. Please note:
I registered the domain with name.com, not with nic.at. Therefore, the full responsibility lies with name.com.
My Responsibility: If you watch the video sent from my email, it clearly shows that I inquired about any issues with my domain, and they confirmed that there were no problems and that it was renewed properly until 2024.
Payment for Renewal: In the follow-up with name.com after your cancellation email, they assured me that there was no problem and that the renewal was correctly handled for the next year.
Please make sure to ask them whether the tracking email I showed you in the video is fake or was genuinely sent!
What else should I have done?
My Commitment to the Customer: My responsibility was only to handle the domain, and I took all necessary precautions and obtained confirmation of the renewal. I didn’t notice the website was down, and the customer, who has 40-50 other sites, also did not notice, assuming that hefaz.at was operating according to Google’s SEO and attracting customers.
The lapse is on name.com.
If I renew the domain, according to the customer, I am responsible for this lapse.
I am very angry with the responses from name.com, as each response is an insult to me and shows complete irresponsibility towards customer rights.
